Jaz & Professor Kahana Cordeiro have been friends for over 20 years, both getting into grappling about the same time, Jaz with Japanese Shoot Wrestling (Puroresu) & Kahana with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. They often would coach MMA fighters together, having mutual students whom would go to Jaz for the MMA style of grappling with strikes and ground and pound,  and  to Kahana for the more technical positioning, submissions & sweeps. Jaz began training in BJJ under Professor Kahana in 2011 and is currently a 3rd degree Blue Belt Instructor. Kaiwiko'o Academy (Ola Hou BJJ) is an official satellite BJJ school of Ohana BJJ / New Life - RMNU Hawaii (Kohala) under Professor Kahana Cordeiro, a Black Belt under Master Robson Moura (Nova Uniao).
